Hi, I have version 1.0.64, but I would really, really like the older version.
I would like to have the version used to create the Gloss Logons by Pixel Pirate, K-Tek Steel Blue by Triggz, Spiderman by Apocayypse_67, and DogmaX by Brewman.
I've been making a few logons and I sure would like to switch the style up a little!!! The version I have is rather limited, and when I loaded the ones I named above, Logon Studio, said that they were all made with an older version.....
If someone couls PLEASE point me in the right direction of the old version that it's refering to, I would be sooo happy!! Please!!!
Thanks guys,
Arlinda

For anyone interested: I took Xero's logon: Link and overwrote the graphics with my own and edited the Theme.ini file manually to change author name etc. I did a preview of it in Photoshop, that way the preview didn't screw up in LogonStudio.

No version of LogonStudio had the ability to layout the skin in that manner. It must be done outside of LS.

Thanks....
Uh, when I go to apply one of the above skins, I get a
"Value Creation Failed at Line 8"
But it still works after I press "ok"
Then when I do like Pixel Pirate says, I get a
"Vailue Creation Failed at Link 40"
But it DOESN'T work, I have to keep pressing the "ok" over and over until some weired Windows Loogn appears.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on with this?

You said that there was not a version that allowed the changed the other authors made, I get that....but are there earlier versions available, because when I attempt to do like what Pixel Pirate says I get the followning message...
"This theme has been made with an old version if LogonStudio and may not preview correctly.
When you will save it the theme layout will ne updated, some settings cannot be automatically updated so you have to manually fix it"

I figure that the earler version may not reject the skin like this one does....
I did try to replace all the images without opening LogonStudio, I just renamed my images from one of my other Logons to match the corresponding image, then overwrote the others.....I made sure my images were the same size and type too....
I also did go in and edit the theme .ini file..I even tried to do it without editing the .ini file....
Considering that all I did was replace the images with my own, and it worked before I did that...except for the line 8 error....wonder why after the images change, it doesn't work at all???
I'm sorry to be a pain...

You can't edit it in LogonStudio. It will tell you it's made in an older version and it may not show properly.

You gotta open up each image in your image software and put your own graphics over it. Name it the same as the original and overwrite the bitmap in the folder.

I suggest you copy one of those logon folders in the skins folder in the LogonStudio folder and rename it to what you want to call it, and replace the images. It should work then.

Side note
All along I thought they were made in an older version, since LogonStudio comes with that error message if you try and edit it. Now after some new logons has arrived it seems like someone coded it. Everyone gives credit to  icat2000 so I wanna know for sure if she is the original author of the code. So I can obtain permission myself. I don't wanna have my logon up here without that

Side note 2
How about a new version of LogonStudio with the other type of logon skin incorporated? That way everyone has the choice to either make the standard logon or this other type of logon. I think it would make a great addition to a great app

Thanks, Pixel Pirate!
Though I did already just what you said.
I alreadu have the images for some of the other Logons I've done. So, I opened my image, then opened the corresponding image, both in PSP8. Then I made sure my images had the same properties as the other image...size, ya know....then I choose "Save As" from my PSP8, browsed for the matching image, then save my image right on top of the match.....I did all of that without opening Logon Studio!!!
So, it's still not working for me, and I can't figure why.....oh, well, for now I'll keep trying and then make the regulars for a while!! Thanks!!

About your side notes....I too thought that they were made from an older version, because of the error msg, but now after whats been said, you are right, we need to find and or figure out who coded it. And get permission before any MORE of their work is used....So, even if I do get it to work, I won't be able to upload anything until the author is found.....Then I'll have to write for the permission.....

If you don't mind...though I'm going to attempt to get in touch with icat2000, myself if you do, would you point her my way....and I'll do the same....Thanks in advance and thanks to for the help!!!

Other side note....That is a WONDERFUL idea. Having more Logon options would be just too cool!!! Imagine all that could be done, by you really talented skinners!!! It would be especially nice if it could be a little like the Boot Skins....where we could enter the x & y for the images!!!
Gotta give you applause for that idea!! Bravo!! Kudos!!

Not likely to happen. The developer of LogonStudio hasn't been heard from for quite some time.

Hmm too bad he's not around anymore. It would've been nice.

On the other hand I shouldn't see that as a problem. If he could make it so can the Stardock developers I guess? Even though there's probably a lot of work in it?

I'm probably asking for too much here, I'll just leave it as wishful thinking.

How come stardock just doesnt make a new program under a different name that can import the Logon files?
on Aug 26, 2004

I don't know why Stardock doesn't start from scratch, and make a new LogonStudio. Perhaps they don't have time. Perhaps they don't have the resources to spent redeveloping a free program that pretty much does the job already. Sure, it would be nice to see LS get some attention again, but I have my doubts that will ever happen.

Agreed, they probally won't be doing any updates because it's free, but I wouldn't be opposed to buying it, if they do work on it and make it better!!!
It does work fine now, though, but I would love to ba able to do more with it!!!

Like cursor xp plus, object dock plus and the wincustomize browser (skin viewer plus? ), I would be happy to pay for logonstudio plus. Any takers in Livonia?

PS - I sure do miss the Tremors nightclub at the Holiday Inn. Is the new Irish pub any good? I haven't been there since it opened...

I made the mistake of downloading and installing LogonStudio v1.7.0 not knowing that the option to automatically change/rotate logons was no longer included.  I, too, would like to download a previous/earlier version.  Is there an archive it or download site for earlier versions?

BBBrown007....I think one resurrected thread about LS options will suffice.

This one is 6 years old and well past relevant....
